Buying an unserviced or not completely serviced tape echo can only lead to disappointment!!
The Dynacord Echocord tube echo's are one of the best tape echo's ever produced. However in order to function perfectly and to guarantee longevity it needs extensive service. After repairing and servicing countless Echocords I know that degraded leaking coupling (film) caps cause DC current to leak through, which is the main cause of defective tape heads. I had many Echocords on my working bench of which one or more tape heads were defect, sometimes all. That also counts for leaking electrolytic caps, which cause problems like distorted audio signal, and need to be replaced always.
Service on the mechanism is crucial too. After 60+ years dirt has accumulated on the tape mechanism which causes sticky rollers. The pinchroller is always dried out with crackles, and notches from the motor ax. The heads are dirty and magnitized which prevents perfect induction and clean sound. The tape is worn and heavily degraded.

The S62A has a restored pinchroller with new rubber, rollers and axes cleaned/lubed, a ball bearing roller was installed for noiseless and smooth transportation of the tape, heads are cleaned/pollished/azimuth adjusted/demagnitized, new tape, the motor was diassembled/cleaned/lubed, all coupling and electrolytic caps replaced, a new trimpot for calibrating regeneration was installed, potentiometers cleaned, tube sockets cleaned, tubes tested (all Telefunken->OK), calibration, new conic shaped rubber feet, a new three prong socket for power cable. Two DIN->6.3mm female jack adapter cables are included. At request he AC power can be adjusted to 115-130Vac and a new US power cable can be included for free.
