The echplex is also a famous tape echo but from the USA.
A fairly simple echo without equalizer just like a Copicat but with a slider!
That makes it very interesting just like a Dynacord and you can also make nice time swings.
It also has a display on which you can see where the slider is located and how many milliseconds the echo is.
The sound can be described as lo-fi. Little treble but character and with the sustain potentiometer (feedback) the echo remains nice and steady floating and it also goes into a peculiar but characterful self-oscillation.
It works with a cartridge and this is a disadvantage. These are a drama to rewind BUT they are available new! Not cheap and you can also use Fulltone cartridges, with a little searching you can find a reasonably cheap new one.
The story goes that the Echoplex was used in the horror movie series Friday the 13th.
